AgroTel partners with National Farmers Association to expand rural access

AgroTel and the National Farmers Association (NFA) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at bringing financial services to over 200,000 farmers in previously underserved rural regions across the country.

The collaboration will leverage the NFA's extensive membership network and AgroTel's digital financial platform to create specialized access points in remote agricultural communities where traditional banking services are limited or nonexistent.

"This partnership represents a significant step forward in our mission to democratize access to financial services for agricultural communities," said Ibrahim Osman, CEO of AgroTel. "By working with the NFA, we can reach farmers who have been excluded from the formal financial system and provide them with tools to manage their finances, access credit, and build economic resilience."

Under the agreement, AgroTel will train and equip NFA representatives to serve as "AgriFinance Agents" who can help farmers register for accounts, process transactions, and provide basic financial education. These agents will be stationed at existing NFA offices and agricultural cooperatives, creating a network of service points that farmers can easily access.

The partnership will also establish specialized loan products designed for different agricultural sectors, with terms aligned to crop cycles and repayment capabilities tailored to farming income patterns.

"Our members have consistently identified access to financial services as one of their greatest challenges," noted Dr. Elizabeth Mwangi, President of the NFA. "Many farmers operate completely in cash, which limits their ability to save, borrow, or invest. This partnership with AgroTel will bring modern financial tools directly to farming communities, helping our members build more sustainable and profitable agricultural businesses."

The initiative will initially focus on five agricultural regions before expanding nationwide. In addition to transaction services, the partnership will provide financial literacy training designed specifically for farmers, covering topics such as seasonal budgeting, agricultural investment planning, and saving for equipment upgrades.

Both organizations emphasize that this is not merely a corporate social responsibility initiative but a strategic business move that creates value for all stakeholders. The farmers gain access to essential financial services, the NFA strengthens its value proposition to members, and AgroTel expands its customer base in untapped rural markets.
